Youth

Here at Waterfront our youth are encouraged to live a Jesus-centred life.

Our aim is that our youth develop their own relationship with God and to see them gradually mature in their faith. It is important to us that they are constantly fed by the Word of God and that they pray with each other as a group, building-up and encouraging each other.

We meet on a Friday night at 7:30pm in the main hall of the church. We grab a bean bag, some snacks and drinks and study a part of the Bible or go through a certain topic. We also ask members of our congregation to share their testimony with us, which is always encouraging. Some of the topics we've covered are:

Groups

  • The importance of the Bible; why and how we read it?
  • Why do we pray?
  • Baptism
  • Communion
  • The Holy Spirit
  • How can we have a faith?
  • Does God still heal today?
  • How can we live a Jesus-centred life?
We actively encourage the youth to submit topics about the Bible or aspects of Christian living they find difficult or would like to know more about. This keeps our teaching relevant and gives the youth a sense of ownership over our syllabus.
Our youth varies from the ages of 12-18 and we meet up at least once a month socially to catch up and hang out. We love to order food in and enjoy each other’s company. We also plan weekends away, plan days out and we always find fun ways to raise money for charities! In the summer of 2017 our youth went on a mission trip to Romania which is something we would love to do again!
It’s important that our youth feel that they are in a safe environment and that they are encouraged to ask for prayer and ask any questions that come to mind! Nothing sounds stupid to us! Our youth are constantly reminded that God loves them and that He has a plan for each and every one of them. No matter what situation they find themselves in they know that God is with them always!
